Sometimes you gotta do crap that you don’t really want to do. So you procrastinate and effectively that spreads that pain out over a longer period of time. Then one of two things happen . . . or both.
- You feel like crap because it isn’t done.
- You still gotta do this thing because it has to be done.
And the cycle repeats.
If you’re like me and you like to push yourself without burn out then try The Pomodoro Technique.
Maybe you already know about it but if not, it works like this.
You set a timer for 25 minutes and it’s a race against the clock. You’re going to focus on one task during that 25-minutes – like writing this post. At the end of 25 minutes you take a 5 minute break, and then you get back to work.
Generally you’ll want to do this in 2 hour blocks – work 25 minutes, take a 5 minute break then back to 25 minutes, break, etc.
Here’s a free timer to help you make it happen.
