Interesting? Yahoo Research Says . . .

by X

Ignoring Google’s preferences, this is semi-interesting and not necessarily surprising research offered by our friends at Yahoo!

What does this mean?

In addition to being more knowledgeable, engaged and savvy shoppers, searchers use more online resources in their purchase process than non-searchers:

  • 50% of searchers source customer reviews and ratings online.
  • 43% of searchers visit shopping comparison websites to make an informed decision.
  • 37% of searchers visit coupon websites to check daily deals.
  • 25% of searchers check out a brand’s social media channels like Twitter and Facebook.
  • 53% use their mobile devices to help them research a purchase.

What does this mean to you?

1.  People like ratings and reviews – legitimate looking and sounding reviews and ratings, that is.

2.  People like head-to-head comparison reviews.  Throw in the X approach to doing this and you have a consistent winner.

3.  I don’t do coupons because of the constant updating that’s required – but read this as “Shoppers are looking for the best deal.

4.  25% of shoppers want to visit the brands social presence online.  I guess it’s a good thing that X is currently developing a tool to help you direct people to a brands social hangout while leaving a cookie for your troubles.

5.  Mobile media . . . is your site friendly to it?  Because over 50% of shoppers are using a mobile device to do conduct their search.

You and I already know that buyer traffic (that’s really what we’re talking about here) is the place to be fishing.  But are you hitting on all of the above cylinders?

X
