I finally got a check today from Amazon for commissions earned through their affiliate program before they canned it in certain states.
You can read about that here.
I never took Amazon too seriously.
My most serious attempt was when I made a few sites following what is taught in Info Product Killer a while back.
Since I first became an Amazon affiliate until they ended the affiliate program in my state I made them $2002.71
My check after check processing fees?
$77.60
Woopy freaking doo.
If Amazon is your thing, great but I personally feel that for most people the time and energy needed to make the Amazon Associate Program worthwhile might be better invested in affiilate programs with higher commissions.
Even Amazon Kindle might be a better investment than their affiliate program for their regular store.
Kindle has consistently made me money and even though I haven’t done anything new with Kindle since I last talked about it on this blog (last month was slow for some reason but this month is quickly making up for it as early in the month as it is) so far on the 6th day of this month I have 7 sales and that’s just on one of the books.
I even made more than that Amazon check with Youtube in a little over 30 days by watermarking a few videos, throwing them up to Youtube, putting my link in the description box and basically not knowing exactly what the heck I was doing – and they’ve continued to make sales.
Amazon Associates – bleh.
It’s got the social proof going for it but the commissions are too measly even if commission rates do go up somewhat the more you sell.
Anyway, if your state was cut out of the Amazon affiliate program and you have unpaid earnings in your account you should be getting a payment by check or whatever soon.

One of my Amazon sites recently sold an iMac… a nice $2000+ sale. My commission? $25.
That’s what I’m saying, man. To each their own, and their (Amazon) brand name instills a sense of trust, but to me it just isn’t worth it.
My Sites are targeting European countries and there aren´t any good products with high commissions there. Alt lest I cannot find anything better than Amazon. So far I made them about 80,000 Euro this year and received about 4,100 Euro. My average commissions is about 2.25-2.50 Euro. That´s more than 1,600 products I sold the first 9 month. Even worse there is a limit of 10 Euro for every product, regardless how expensive it is. I recently sold a fully automatic coffee machine for 1,200 Euro and got only 10 Euro (commission 0.83%).
That´s not much but I don´t think amazon is that bad. The commissions are low but I have a conversion rate Clickbank affiliates can only dream about. And the Sites/Pages I made can last for years. You don´t earn a lot of money quick that way, but over the years it can add up and you can make quite some money for the work you once did.
