Connection Speeds

by X

I’ve had numerous complaints about slow connection speeds with this site.

After upgrading to (supposedly) faster hosting, the issue persisted.

Seems the problem was a DNS issue, which should now be resolved.  This wasn’t affecting everyone – and should now be affecting no one.

Thanks, X

Hi, X – thanks for trying to solve this nasty “slow connection” problem. I agree that it is certainly not about raw connection speed, but something more subtle, since most of the time one spends “waiting” without any visible update activity on the page.

Unfortunately I cannot report that the problem is “gone” since I see only minor improvements – a few pages indeed started loading “normally”, i.e. within a couple of seconds, but still there are plenty of those that would “hang” saying “Waiting for affiliateblackbook.com” for about 30 seconds and then eventually go through (never a timeout). In the past it looked like ALL pages would hang like that, no exceptions, including reloads of the current page.

Can other people briefly mention their experiences with page load speed (positive or negative)?

PS A more recent website issue is that once I login to it, I see a change in postings dates on the main page (aka Home). Specifically, November/December posts suddenly become dated January, e.g. 11/22/10 post become 1/2/11, while real January ones remain unchanged. Looks really odd.

Yeah, Stanev I just noticed the date issue today. The Traffic Equalizer post was made on January 20 – yet says December 30, 2010. That might have to do with the WPDrip plugin I installed but it’s weird.

As far as hang continuing, is there any common denominator about those pages? IE, video pages, etc?

I don’t have these problems on my end and that’s a big part of the mystery here. The speed of the site for me is consistent with most other sites I visit.

If you’re curious about checking your own site for DNS issues, try this:

Hi X,

I logged in today to discover I’m now a “ninjamofo”? I checked Paypal and I’ve been paying for Apostle membership for as long as I’ve been around.

Has this been an issue with anyone else? Please get this sorted out,

Cheers

Hi Benni -

Sorry I missed you when adjusting permissions.

You should be all set now.

All the best to you – X
