Hi,
I have a quick question, how do you know that the Blog Popper is dropping cookies?
T
Tito -
You can either go into Tools>Options and set cookies to manual approval – you’ll get a popup whenever a cookie is being set, or you can test with a Clickbank product by looking at the bottom of the order page where you should see affiliate=yourid
Just checking to see if anyone else has installed BP v1.1 and have it still say v1.00 at the bottom of their control panel (?)
Hi Tavis -
My programmer needs to change the version the program suggests to 1.1
Forgot to mention, the sample site given at dipdir.com dropped the cookie for FireFox, but on IE 7.0, I couldn’t load the site at all – which is what was happening on my own blogs. It gave the “operation aborted” msg and wouldn’t load the page. I originally thought it was my own hosting accounts (even though I tried installing on multiple hosting accounts on totally different companies) or something to do with my own wordpress themes – but now that I’ve seen the error on someone else’s site, it’s got to be something with my own IE settings on all my computers that is causing the prob… can someone go to ironmarketer.com with their version of IE and let me know if it gives them the error? I’ve left blog popper running even though it coughs up errors on my end (it’s ok in Firefox though)
thanx
Tavis
Hi Tavis -
That’s the first time I’ve seen that happen myself – what you’re describing happens to me too.
I see a lot of stuff loading on that page – not sure if any of that contributes to the error.
You might try “safe mode” in your BP settings.
Unfortunately, same problem exists when using the “safe load (img)” method.
Problem goes away immediately when I remove the blogpopper widget. Same problem on any of my blogs on any hosting provider.
See other reply to your blog popper q’s.
Thanks!
Here’s the problem – it affects IE 7.0 and obviously Microsoft’s solution is to just upgrade to IE 8.0 (me rolling eyes).
Anyway, after digging around, here’s the scoop from microsoft re: that particular error. Something in the blogpopper script is not kosher with some element of the following:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927917#more_information
*From microsoft
This problem occurs because a child container HTML element contains script that tries to modify the parent container element of the child container. The script tries to modify the parent container element by using either the innerHTML method or the appendChild method.
For example, this problem may occur if a DIV element is a child container in a BODY element, and a SCRIPT block in the DIV element tries to modify the BODY element that is a parent container for the DIV element.

Hi Tavis,
Just clearing up older Comments that were in caught in gray area spam filters on this end.
If you still need a reply for your Blog Popper questions, please :
A) read the ‘read me’ file which has
clear directions for installation
and
B) if there’s still
an issue then consider the installation service.:

Thanks!
I read somewhere that It would work on a standard HTML site. Not working for me for sure… Very Frustrating!!! I will purchase your service, but this is not right. I don’t need help to install it. I did that. I need help to debug it or something wasn’t explained right in the installation video…
Hi Terry –
I got a note from Tommy and it sounds like your hosting provider is the issue in all of this. Blog Popper will work on WP and HTML sites.
One thing I would like to add and have not seen this addressed here. if you use the WP plugin, you should protect your plugin folder with an index page so people can’t see that you are using BP
T
Good suggestion Tito.
I wasn’t aware (until recently) that all WP folders – themes, uploads, plugins, are wide open.
Just upload an index.html page into each folder to protect yourself.
I am testing it with IE8 and have the same issue, so I have deactivated the plugin until I figure out how I can debug it.
I have a blogpopper question. Maybe it’s obvious, dunno.
How do I use blogpopper with EBay or Amazon? Any special thing to do?
Nothing special Arthur but I would proceed with extreme caution with them – mainly because they’ve seen it all.
Arthur,
Make sure you use a referrer (a blank one could make them suspicious but it’s your call) and as that referrer make a legitimate looking page somewhere with at least some content related to the offer you’re dropping the cookie for. Have a call to action and your affiliate link. Don’t drop cookies on that page/site. Somewhere on that page you might also want to have a generic affiliate link to ebay/amazon home page if possible in case people are buying items that aren’t what you appear to be promoting.
I might be wrong but I think amazon doesn’t allow paid advertising anymore. So if you have any paid advertising to pages where you are promoting amazon DON’T make those pages your referrer just in case.
This is from the amazon new rules page:
“Q: How do I know if this change will affect me?
A: If you are using paid search advertising services like Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing or Microsoft adCenter to send users directly to the http://www.amazon.ca, http://www.amazon.com or http://www.endless.com website, this change will affect you. If your own website has links to Amazon’s US or Canadian sites and you are using these or other similar services to send users to your own website, you should not be affected by this change as long as you comply with all terms of the Operating Agreement. ”
and
“Q: If my paid search advertisement directs a user first to an interstitial page, then to http://www.amazon.com, http://www.endless.com, or http://www.amazon.ca, will I earn referral fees?
A: No. However, if you place paid search advertisements to send users to your own website, and then your website displays links to http://www.amazon.com, http://www.endless.com, or http://www.amazon.ca in accordance with the Operating Agreement, you may earn referral fees for qualifying purchases made by users who click on your paid search ad, click through to your site, then click through to an Amazon site.”
Here is the URL I found this on – there is more on it… go have a look for yourself (if you are already an associate).
https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/promo/paidsearch.html
So my interpretation is you CAN use paid search to your own website or landing page that presells whatever Amazon product you are wanting to sell, and you CAN provide direct links to Amazon from your own website.
Check out the link they provided…
Tav.
Well, I installed BP on another hosting and still IE will not load the page.
Hi Tito,
Just closing out old Comments that were in caught in gray area spam filters on this end; you had a couple.

Actually, what I mean to ask is — what do you enter as the ‘affiliate link’?
With clickbank it’s simple. One product. One link. And they generate the hoplink for you. With Amazon or EBay I’ve seen widgets, but never a simple link. Is it in there?
Hi Arthur -
It is in there (although I say that without having done much with Amazon in years).
Here’s an Amazon link:
<a href=”http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TXZIDM?ie=UTF8&tag=portlandsourceco&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000TXZIDM“>Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Black, Kindle Version)<img src=”http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=portlandsourceco&l=as2&o=1&a=B000TXZIDM” width=”1″ height=”1″ border=”0″ alt=”" style=”border:none !important; margin:0px !important;” />
The part I bolded is the affiliate link you want to use. I caution you with Ebay and Amazon though – they have sophisticated detection systems in place that are going to weigh your “clicks” versus “impressions”. The italicized part of the code above indicates that part of their tracking (just in case you’re not familiar with how that works – an 1×1 pixel image measures impressions). If they snoop though, I just say that you use email marketing – though altering your linking code in any way could be a violation of TOS. Unless you’re doing this on a mass scale you’d probably get a pass though the first time.

Quick question:
I’ve watched the campaign setup video numerous times and I have a good grasp on everything except for the WhiteHat Custom Code. Am I right to assume that if a merchant checks their referrer, they will see a page with nothing more than hyper linked text or a banner at best?
Can this code be incorporated into a more believable/content filled page?
Hell, maybe it doesn’t even matter, but I thought I’d check it out nonetheless.
Thanks!
Hi Bender -
Yes, you can put anything you want into the white hat custom code field that would normally fall between tags – you could copy and paste a complete page into that field (minus head tags, etc).
X
Cool
Yep, I had some major issues with my Host Provider. Couldn’t get BP to run properly. I tell you what, TOMMY IS THE MAN!!! He got it fixed for me. Why Struggle for days when you could have it done in minutes for $20!!!
Oh!!! And BTW Tommy, don’t mean to be rude, but you could have charged me at least $100 for all this, I would have taken the offer. You missed it!!!
X sorry for not being very “friendly” in my last E-Mails, I was very very frustrated. Now it’s all good. Peace.
Thanks, Terry but I think you’re giving me way too much credit. You also thought about and gave ideas as to what the problem was and I helped within my capacity to do so. There is always the possibility I can’t help but in your case I’m glad that I could.
Tommy,
You still around here these days?
If not, anyone know how to get in touch with him?
Question about the WP themes.
How can I hide the title and description in the header without omitting it completely so as to maintain good SEO while enabling me to have a custom header?
Thanks
Steve
I know this site is not here to give us basic lessons on WordPress but maybe someone could point me to where I need to look. As with everything once you are shown how things are done everything seem so obvious and easy.
Never having used WP before I’m struggling to figure out how to structure the theme.
i.e.
How to set the home page.
Do I use pages or posts & if so How?
How to create the categories with the sub pages showing up beneath them.
As I said I know this is basic stuff but when you haven’t used WP before it
is frustrating so any useful resources to learn how to use your themes would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
Steve -
Started to answer, you got into recording a video to show you some things and lost the original post. So – this is my 2-hour response to you.
Do you feel the love? Do you feel it?!
1. To edit the blog name/description (or remove it), login to your WP admin panel.
2. Select “Appearance” > “Editor”
3. The editor page will open and you’ll see a list of all the files that make up your blog theme. You’re looking for the one titled “header.php”
Now this is where things get slightly dicey because every page is going to be coded a little differently – and I will not attest to being a CSS or PHP expert. But . . .
4. Open the “header.php” file by selecting it. Copy and paste the CURRENT file into NotePad so if you goof something up you have a backup.
5. In the code, scroll past all code until you get to the
tag. After the tag you’ll be looking for any code that indicates “blog name” and “description”. You want to highlight and DELETE all of that code – here’s what it looks like in my blog files (and thanks, this has been on my to-do list).Since my blog theme was created with the same software that created the themes I’ve provided for you (not counting the video ones) it probably looks the same. You want to delete the entire
section, and make sure you delete the /
tag too.
6. Save it and then check to make sure your blog looks right – if not, just repaste the original code from the notepad and try again. Trial and error is how I’ve learned to do most of what I know how to do.
Your other questions I’ve answered in this video.
Hi X,
Thanks again for all your help and responsiveness. For primarily a 1 man show, its impressive and appreciated.
By the way, The WP theme info above has “missing info” that seems to be where you may have cut and pasted code from your blog files, but it doesn’t show up. For example, toward the end in #5 where you say,”here’s what it looks like in my blog files”…., and later “delete the entire……section” and …..”tag”. info is missing that should have been displayed.
So just for a heads up,(because it may actually display on your computer), for those of us looking at the above comments externally to your site, we just see “blank space” where you probably pasted that info and it would really help us make sense of all of it if you could could look again and maybe manually type the info in or figure out why the pasted stuff doesn’t show up for us.
No doubt, the trusted trial and error approach may be needed to figure out why it didn’t display.
Thanks again,
Steve DeWitt
PS If you figure out why it didn’t display, sharing that info with us also, may help us know how to avoid that glitch in our own wordpress blogs.
Hi Steve -
WordPress is trying to act on the code – I created an image to plugin there.
Thanks X,
Simple when somebody shows you how!
I appreciate the help you’ve saved me a lot of time and yes
I’m feeling the love…
Steve
x,
After some research I found that instead of deleting the code as you suggest and losing valuable SEO I managed to HIDE the title & description in the CSS style sheet.
In the them you provided I did it by adding
visibility: hidden; In the code for the LOGO shown below
/* begin Logo */
.logo
{
position: relative;
left: 16px;
top: 16px;
}
.logo td
{
text-align: center;
vertical-align: middle;
white-space: nowrap;
}
.logo-name
{
font-size: 26px;
font-family: Arial;
font-style: normal;
font-weight: bold;
}
.logo-name a
{
text-decoration: none;
color: #97B1D8 !important;
visibility: hidden;
}
.logo-text
{
font-size: 18px;
font-family: Arial;
font-style: normal;
font-weight: normal;
color: #FFFFFF !important;
visibility: hidden;
}
/* end Logo */
This way the search engines can still read the title & description
thought others might find it useful.
Steve
Hey Steve -
That’s cool. Thanks for posting.
Is there a remote possibility that Google Adwords could track Blog Popper and penalize you from having it on your site?!?
My quality score went from 9/10 to 1/10, my ads are not showing and the only reason I can come up with is Blog Popper?!?
Has anyone else put BP on a site/URL that gets traffic from Adwords?
Hi Terry -
DM me via the help desk and I’ll take a look. No, I have not had this issue and I have not had anyone else report that issue. And yes, I send my traffic from Adwords.
I really don’t know why Google would care – I have never had an issue with them in the 5 or 6 years I’ve been doing this, but I’ll be happy to see if I can find an answer for you.
X
Two questions:
#1) BlogPopper with Hostgator addon domains… Will it work with a single install at root on hosted domain or do I need a reseller account? Upgrade to reseller account = ultra drag.
#2) HTML code. The readme file and the campaign creation video seem to peter out when referring to using HTML pages. My question here is where does the HTML code go? Is this to be put on pages designated in “Show On Pages”?
If so, it’s not working out for me, and Tommy “Mither Toothy” (that’s awesome), you might be getting another order soon because I’m beginning to think this may be similar to what you and Terry worked out.
Thanks in advance to anyone who’s got the goods.
B.
Hi Bender -
1. Blog Popper needs an install on each domain where you’ll use it.
2. Using HTML code, Blog Popper will work on any page where you install the code only. If you put the code on every page, then you can define which pages to show on and which not – hope that makes sense.
X
I have installed blogpopper and it all works fine in firefox.
However when i use IE7 and load my blog i get an virus warning box come up from Avira AntiVir Personal edition. ??
I have tried using imag as well as iframe and still the same.
I have tried this on 6 computers in different locations and it is always the same ?
Am i doing something wrong ?
Hi Sarah,
I’m just closing out old Comments that were in caught in gray area spam filters on this end.
If you still need a reply for this, please re-post or for blog popper:
A) read the ‘read me’ file which has
clear directions for installation
and
B) if there’s still
an issue then consider the installation service.:
http://affiliateblackbook.com/back-in-black/blog-popper-installation-service/
Thanks!
I don’t think i need an installation service , i think it is all working fine,
i just want to know if it is normal to have a an virus warning box come up from Avira AntiVir Personal edition.
Hi Sarah,
We’ve had reports of this with a few people. I think there are a wide variety of situations where this *could* happen, but it’s not a widespread issue. It will depend primarily on security settings. Some people will even have security settings that deny cookies altogether.
X
Sarah,
I get the same message with Kaspersky Internet Security when I click on the URLs in the “Referrer Status” – I think X is right when he says it has something to do with the security settings. If you take one of the URLs under “Referrer Status” and paste it into your browser most probably nothing will happen even if your firewall is still on.
Bernd
Hi,
Ok, so you’ve answered one question I was thinking which is I need blog popper intalled on each addon domain I have. Does that also mean I need a seperate sql database for each install?
Thanks
Paul
Yes it does Paul.
Hey X,
I recently installed Blog Popper on a couple of sites. However, when I go to my BP campaign view page to review the “stats” section – I don’t see any changes to the “hits” count, despite the fact that I’ve gotten some definite clicks as is evidenced by my increasing Google PPC search bill. Obviously, this is of major concern to me, because I want to make effective use of Blog Popper.
My sites are not WordPress, but instead were created from a software program called Affiliate Prophet (not sure if you’re familiar with it or not).
In any event, for Blog Popper usage purposes – I treated the Blog Popper installation as if my sites were in HTML format, and simply Copy/Pasted the code provided within Blog Popper for non-blog pages into the bottom of my sites main index.php page.
Is this the proper file/site location to insert the Blog Popper code?
Please advise.
Thanks,
Marvin
Marvin -
Try moving the code up on your page. I’ve seen some instances where scrolling to the location on the page where the BP code is installed is required to activate the popup – I think it has to do with the way the code embeds. If that doesn’t make a difference, let me know.
Blog Popper Arghhhhhhhh !!!!!!!
I am not really big into giving testimonials, but credit where credit is due.
So a big THANK YOU Tommy.
-
After BP frustration set in I decided to give the Instillation service a go all I can say is it’s money well spent 2 sites sorted in two days and all my questions answered quickly and helpfully .
Tommy you are the BP man so thanks again for all your help and if any of you are struggling with BP.
HELP is only a few $ $ away.
Steve.
Hi;
Setup went fine – but when I try to create campaign I get the following error message :
”
Please correct following errors:
Following Cookie URL is not correct:
”
No Url is displayed . The affiliate Url I am putting in is from a shareasale merchant and looks akin to this:
http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=xxxxx&u=xxxxxx&m=1xxxxx&urllink=&afftrack=
Does that have anything to do with it?
Thanks for your help
Michael
Hi there again:
Please disregard earlier post – I think I got it figured out
Still confused about the following: ( I am putting this on a blog )
Campaign Settings
1.Show on Pages: here I just put in my main url i.e. http.//www.mydomain.com/
right or wrong ?
2.Whitehat Custom code : put some text in here
Now the confusing part
– why do I specify on what pages to show when the script goes into the blog sidebar ? Does that mean it will only activate on the homepage ? or does the blog widget overrides this ?
Same issue with the ” white hat custom code ” – It seems I go through the same exercise in the wp admin setup again. Is it one or the other or does it matter at all.
Lastly right now I got it to work ( I think ) with leaving the referrer blank, I tried to upload the ‘upload referer script’ but when unzipping it the following error message comes up:
file is not a valid archive ….. please try again
any ideas on that?
Again thanks for your help
Michael

Campaign Settings
1.Show on Pages: here I just put in my main url i.e. http.//www.mydomain.com/

If you leave blank, it will show on all pages on the site based on your frequency settings. If you specify pages, then that specific cookies will ONLY be activated on the specified page. In order to specify the home page (index) you’ll need to enter the correct file name/extension – ie, mydomain.com/index.php versus only mydomain.com
2.Whitehat Custom code : put some text in here
Now the confusing part

This has confused a few people.
White Hat Custom Code works along with the Referring URL spoofer – ie, when you specify pages on other sites that you own to appear as the referrer then what’s in the White Hat Customer Code field is what will be shown on the referring URL page. WHCC does not appear on the site where you have Blog Popper installed – WHCC appears only on your spoofing pages.
Same issue with the ” white hat custom code ” – It seems I go through the same exercise in the wp admin setup again. Is it one or the other or does it matter at all.
Hopefully cleared up above, but WHCC isn’t the same thing as the code you can stick in your widget (which will appear on your site). The widget code can also be left blank – I like to use that as my optin form space now.
Lastly right now I got it to work ( I think ) with leaving the referrer blank, I tried to upload the ‘upload referer script’ but when unzipping it the following error message comes up:
file is not a valid archive ….. please try again
any ideas on that?
Sounds like you may need to unzip the file before uploading it.
Again thanks for your help
Michael
De nada.
X
in your description of BP you say:
1-”you can direct link to a merchant site, instead of using an affiliate link to give them more quality inbound links”
Do you mean that I should just redirect my domain to the merchant? And will that be sufficient to place a cookie for the visitors (who will be immediately redirected) ? In the white hat custom code I would have nothing else than just click here to get to your page
Thanks
Bernd
Hi Bernd,
The idea is that once you place your cookie (using Blog Popper or another means of leaving a cookie) then the affiliate link isn’t necessary. You can direct link to the merchant site, and link to any page that YOU prefer instead of where the affiliate link would dictate.
For example on the call I did with Carl Galletti. His system was set for the affiliate link I have to send people to a sales page. I wanted to send people to his optin form so they could download his free book with resale rights instead. To do this I simply created a redirect page where the redirect link is where I want people to go, and within the redirect page is my affiliate link executed with an “invisible popup”.
If you send someone to *any* page that drops your cookie, then you are free to send the visitor to any page you want without being restricted by the limitations of the affiliate link.
Make sense?
X
X,
I checked with IExplorer 8 and obviously it is not enough to drop a cookie.
Can you please say how to adjust the settings ?
Thks
Bernd
Not sure I understand your question Bernd. What some of us have discovered with IE8 (this has been discussed elsewhere here) is that the cookie drop only functions if/when the place on the page where Blog Popper is installed is scrolled to.
OK, that was a terrible sentence.
In other words, if you install the Blog Popper widget at the bottom of your page then the visitor will need to scroll to the bottom of your page for Blog Popper to activate. This is not something we can control through Blog Popper.
Since you can place any content you want in the Blog Popper widget, I’d suggest that you either leave it blank and put it as the top widget on your blog, *or* if your putting an optin form in the top right corner as I recommend then put that form code in the Blog Popper widget. My point is the Blog Popper widget needs to be placed as high on the page as possible.

Blog Popper Installation Challenges?
Like many other ABB Apostles over the months – I’ve successfully installed BP myself on a few sites. However, I recently came across some unexpected difficulties while trying to install BP in conjunction with a popular keyword tracking software that uses script files to replicate merchant sites.
I “invested” in the BP Installation Service offered by Tommy – and not only was he able to figure out how to get my replicated merchant site setup properly with BlogPopper – but he also completed the project within 1 business day!
Mind you……I had been agonizing over this project task over the last couple of weeks, trying to figure it out myself!!! My only regret is not utilizing Tommy’s outstanding BP installation service sooner.
In any event, for those of you who may be stuck (get unstuck – as “X” says) with a similar technical glitch – don’t be too proud to enlist the professional BP installation service provided by Tommy while it’s still available!
Like me, you’ll be forever grateful – and can get back to the business of earning money through affiliate marketing, instead of trying to become a full-time expert programmer!
Marvin
Tommy does a great job for the pittance he’s asking. And I’m not recommending him because I make a nickel (I don’t) – he’s offering a good value and unless you think your time is worth less than $20 per hour (if you do, we need to talk) then don’t hesitate to take advantage of him.
X
Tommy actally does more than he is required to do.
I am impressed by the dedication and skills he is bringing into the job.
I think he is very helpful especially in situations where you have done everything right according to the readme file but still you are encountering problems (old wordpress versions for instance)
Thanks Tommy !
Bernd
Hi;
Hopefully this thread is still moderated
Alright; seems like I am the only “idiot” that hasn’t figured this out yet. After months of giving up I decided to give this another shot.
All I am trying to do is display a banner in the sidebar of my blog – that will also fire a cookie to the merchant.
1. database created and installed – done
2. campaign created – done
3. widget installed – shows in side bar – no problem
Only problem I can’t get my head around is the ‘ white hat code ‘
If i understand this all correctly the code is designed to spoof the referrer. What if I don’t want the referrer spoofed ? I am perfectly alright letting the merchant know that the traffic came from the blog.
All I need to accomplish that the sidebar widget fires a cookie.
Do I need the white hat code to do that.
Sorry for being so dense
Cheers
