Bad Boys

This is amusing, but it also says something about how the rest of the ‘legitimate’ business world sees us.  It also says something about how we can craft an image and sell ourselves to the ‘real world’ – if one were so inclined.

What Can We Learn From the Bad Boys of Marketing?
INSTRUCTOR: Brian Massey, Founder of Conversion Sciences

SESSION DESCRIPTION: We call them affiliate marketers, infopreneurs or online goo-roos. They push health care products, supplements, exercise videos, and get-rich-quick schemes. At their best they are sophisticated landing page optimizers and savvy search engine technicians. At their worst they are spammers, manipulators and comment leeches. These are the “bad boys” of online sales conversion, and there is much to learn from their pages that we can adopt in brand-safe ways.
  • Learn who the Bad Boys of Marketing are
  • Learn what techniques are commonly used on high-converting landing pages
  • Learn how these techniques can be applied in brand-safe ways

And the first Bad Boy is Belcher, who else. :D

But he’s right – Belcher is one of the guys who don’t really want to be seen publicly with. Personally, I don’t think there’s much worse than taking advantage of ill people.

Still – there’s a lot to learn from guys like him, and I think he knows his stuff better than a lot of the Kerns and Walkers out there.

What’s weird is that I’ve met Perry and he’s much more likeable than 95% of the guru crowd I’ve encountered.

He does not strike me as someone who was ever out to harm anyone. But people do stupid things and Perry was guilty of that.

Plus, I have to add, that the third leading cause of death in the United States is medical mishandling.

Misdiagnosis, failure to diagnose and the side effects of drugs kill more than 250,000 people per year – this is documented.

But who is vilifying their physician?

The first two causes (heart disease and cancer) are directly attributable, and curable, through diet.

The medical industry as a whole, in partnership with the food industry and the federal government, is a sham.

Many of you know of Robert Collier as the genius copywriter. Most of you don’t know of that same man as the writer of other materials well ahead of their time.

Yeah, he seems pretty likable as a dude from what I’ve seen. His seminar with Deiss is one of the best programs around, each DVD alone would’ve been worth it.

It’s a bit weird that so many of the better marketers (esp. Kennedys school) tend to have problems with the law at some point (and mostly not over minor issues), including Kern, Paul and Belcher.

It kinda makes me understand why sites like the droid are around, but then again, most guys on there either suck as marketers or despise the whole industry. Which is kinda like a vegetarian reviewing burger stands.

I agree on the Kennedy crowd’s propensity for trouble. Of course the Kennedy philosophy is to suck every penny you can out of your customer. If you’ve left anything you aren’t doing your job.
